The purpose of this study is to explore who can be the ‘President of Donghak’ closer to the ideal of Donghak on the occasion of the 20th presidential election. Since the ideal of equality pursued by Donghak has not yet been fully realized, it is necessary to find the link between the past and present inequality and interpret it in a modern way. As a research method for this, literature research and statistical indicators in various fields were used. The contents of this study are, first, about the qualifications required for the president of Donghak. This again includes the question of ‘why do you want to become president?’ and the level of human rights awareness of each candidate. Second, as the president of Donghak, it is about what and how he wants to change. For this, concrete methods to eliminate the evils of our society and clear measures to alleviate economic inequality are needed. The results of this study were, first, that the ruling party candidate ran for president for the public good, and he had a genuinely good attitude. On the other hand, the reason why the opposition candidate ran for president is unclear and shows antihuman rights characteristics. Second, one candidate recognized the reform of the prosecution and the other recognized the strengthening of the prosecution power as reform tasks. To alleviate economic inequality, the ruling party candidate proposed a new land tax and basic income, and the opposition candidate proposed various tax cuts.
